Just Like That…Another Placement!

It seems as if I am only doing big life updates right now, after months of a quieter (but still busy) season. The night that I scheduled our pregnancy announcement post (read here), we got a call about another placement. Call us crazy (we probably are), but we now have another brand new little one in our care. Although the more I talk to people, the more common I realize it is for people to have said yes to a baby while pregnant. Even though we were told we probably wouldn’t get any calls for babies (which we understood and were fine with), all of our placements in the last year have had a baby in it. Not to mention, we have said no to multiple other baby placements.

Honestly with our 4.5 year age gap between our first two, I thought 2-4 years would be the ideal age range and not too difficult to get a placement at that age. But obviously God has had other plans for us. We take it case by case and after having said no to a few other newborns, we felt pulled to say yes to this one. We will call this little one, Sweet pea, moving forward. This week we also have a respite placement (little peanut-our first baby), so things seem extra crazy, but as He always does…God will provide for and sustain us! Little sweet pea is still in the hospital right now. Phil and I have been and will continue to take turns driving back and forth to make sure this little one gets love and snuggles.

It is hard not to feel guilty that we cannot be there more, but I remind myself that God is carrying Sweet Pea and has guardian angels watching over them. He chose us to care for Sweet Pea right now. Not to mention, the great nurses and excellent care that is being provided. We are praying hard and eagerly await when we can bring Sweet Pea home to our house, also knowing how uncertain this foster care journey is. Anything can change, at any point. If you want to be praying specifically with us, please reach out to me and I can share regular prayer updates. Also, a dear friend in my small group has put together a meal train to help us get through the crazy hours and (hopefully) the transition home over the next few weeks. Here is the link if you feel led: Meal Train

Matthew 19:13-15 “Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” And he laid his hands on them and went away.” I am so thankful to the privilege of being the hands and feet of Jesus as we love on this little one. I am equally as thankful that you are on the journey with us; praying, partnering with us, and come alongside of us.

God knows our every need. He knew that these precious little ones needed both you and Phil to care and love them, even if only temporary.
Congratulations to everyone on such exciting news.

Amen Kim! We don’t always know what the results of our obedience will be, but we know we are called to care for them and know that the Lord cares for them even more deeply!
